What Makes a Marriage Truly Intentional?
You love your person. You want your relationship to thrive. You’re trying to be intentional.
You wouldn’t be here if you didn’t care.
But with how full life can get, including business, responsibilities, kids, and everything else, it’s easy for your relationship to take a backseat.
And even when you do make time, a real question comes up:
What should you actually be doing to build a strong, intentional marriage?
Why Most Couples Feel Stuck
If you’re like most couples, you don’t just want to spend time together, you want that time to matter.
You want to know that what you’re doing actually works.
You’re looking for a system. A structure. A way to create the relationship and life you truly want.
The 3 Pillars of an Intentional Marriage
Through our experience working with hundreds of couples, we’ve identified a simple but powerful framework.
Think of it like a recipe.
There are three essential ingredients every intentional marriage needs:
1. Vision (Your Relationship North Star)
What kind of life do you want to create together?
Your vision keeps you aligned. It gives your relationship direction and ensures you are growing together, not apart.
2. Strategy (Your Life Plan)
How are you going to get there?
This is where goals, planning, and structure come in.
When your life logistics are organized and your household runs smoothly, you reduce stress and create space for what truly matters.
3. Connection (Keeping the Love Alive)
How will you stay emotionally connected along the way?
Connection is what makes everything meaningful. It’s what keeps the relationship alive, fulfilling, and worth investing in.
Why You Need All Three
Most couples are strong in one or two of these areas, but struggle in the others.
And that’s where problems start.
Vision + Strategy Without Connection
You may be achieving goals and building a life together, but emotionally, you feel disconnected.
The relationship can start to feel more like a partnership or business arrangement than a marriage.
Vision + Connection Without Strategy
You have love and shared dreams, but no clear plan.
Over time, this can lead to chaos, stress, and frustration because the vision isn’t being turned into reality.
Strategy + Connection Without Vision
Things feel good in the short term.
But without a clear direction, long-term growth becomes difficult. Without a shared vision, it’s easy to drift and lose alignment.
Where Are You as a Couple?
Take a moment to reflect:
- Which of these areas are you strongest in?
- Which area could use more attention?
Awareness is the first step toward building something better.
Start Building Your Intentional Marriage
The goal isn’t perfection.
It’s alignment.
When you combine vision, strategy, and connection, you create a relationship that is not only strong, but deeply fulfilling.
